Below are the series of guidelines that tutors are required to adhere to during the demo sessions. These guidelines must be thoroughly understood and implemented in practice by tutors.
General Guidelines
- Join the class on time.
- If a student has not joined the session, drop a message on WhatsApp group or seek help from edvi personnel.
- Join the class from laptop/PC.
- Use Pentab to write on a whiteboard.
- Keep your camera on.
- Use earphones/headphones.
- Take classes in a peaceful and well-lit environment.
- Blur the background or change the background using features available in Google Meet or Zoom.
- Avoid frequently muting and unmuting yourself during the class
- Avoid turning your camera off during the class
- Request the student to keep the camera on. Do not enforce it if the student is not comfortable.
- Encourage the student to interact with you during the class.
- Maintain a friendly class atmosphere.
- Do not rely heavily on PowerPoint slides.
- Use a digital whiteboard.
- Download books in advance. Do not wait until the last minute.
- If asked, make sure to create an account on third-party websites to access the books.
- Confirm that the demo topic is covered in recommended books / provided content.
- During the demo, use Google Drive to share files. Do not ask for the email address of the student or parent.
- Do not ask for contact information e.g. mobile number, email etc. of the parent or student.
- Strictly avoid discussion about payment information.
- If a parent wants to have a contact number or email, tell them that the edvi team will set up a WhatsApp group.
- Listen to the student’s questions carefully.
- Maintain a calm, composed and curious demeanour.
- Seek help from edvi personnel if you don’t know any curriculum you are about to teach e.g. Cambridge IGCSE, MoE Singapore GCE O Level.
- Parents may take some time to confirm classes after the demo session. Kindly be patient, and the Edvi team will contact you once they receive confirmation.
