Will AI Mark IB Exams?
A common question is whether AI will replace human examiners.
The answer is no. Human examiners will continue to assess student work. However, AI is being explored as a quality-control tool that may help identify possible marking inconsistencies. Any issues identified by AI would still be reviewed by humans before any decisions are made.
This means human judgement remains an important part of the assessment process.
What This Means for Students
The approach taken by the IB reflects a wider change happening across education. Instead of avoiding AI, schools are increasingly teaching students how to use it responsibly and effectively.
In the future, success will depend not only on knowing how to use technology but also on understanding when to trust it, when to question it, and how to use it ethically.
